The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa is a mere six months away, and while there are no overnight stops in Guthrie County this year, there is potential for the County to be on this year’s route.

Guthrie County Sheriff’s Deputies and County Engineer Josh Sebern mentioned at Thursday’s Board of Supervisors meeting that they both just received a letter from RAGBRAI officials showing their interest in having the ride go through the cities of Adair, Casey, Menlo, and Stuart during the ride from Atlantic to Winterset on Monday, July 22nd. RAGBRAI officials are asking for Guthrie County Secondary Roads and the Iowa Department of Transportation’s feedback on any road construction projects that may be happening on their proposed route in July. The official bike route between the overnight stops is scheduled to be released on March 10th.
